SPORTS TALK: LEBRON JAMES Dr. Charles Njoku. CEO Chioma Entertainment Group
Most of modern day survival will involve a change in location of ones environment. People do relocate for jobs, and for schools from one city, state or country to another.
Professional athletes do relocate to a new team or get traded to another. Majority of these athletes relocate and never get to return to their roots. A few of these stars have gone back and with their new found wealth and star power have uplifted their communities. The likes of Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Montumbo Motombo are some modern day examples that have made a difference in their original home towns.
One modern day star stands out among the few who have cared and reach out, touch someone and make a difference. That star is the Cleveland Cav. Akron, Ohio’s own phenom LeBron James. “King James” as we love to call him, grew up in the projects in Akron, Ohio. He was raised at the Ed Davis Community Center where he not only helped care for the youth during his summer assignments but also prepared his skills that are dazzling us all today.
Fortunately for us all, LeBron was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers and has remained in the community. In recent months he has resurrected, with some help from Nike, several community centers, including our own Ed Davis Community Center. King James is a modern day example of remembering where you came from. He also exemplifies the notion of reaching out and touching someone. I hope and pray other entertainers, athletes and any other successful persons will not forget where they came from and go reach out and touch someone and that’s god’s wish.
